Nobu
When it comes to consistency and quality food, Nobu is on the top of the list. I have never been disappointed in the experince that Nobu delivers. And since its door opened in 1994 Nobu remains the hot spot and the foodies destination for tasteful experience.
Last night, desipte the freezing cold weather I went out for an early dinner. It is always a pleasure and honor to enter Nobu Matsuhisa's restaurant door. My first experience with Nobu was in London where the rich, famous and beautiful indulged their senses before going out to parties. The restaurant has a very zen feel and a spectacular view of Hyde Park. Nobu downtown offers a different experience in decor but the same indulgance and flavours as its sister restaurants.
We began the evening with green tea, followed by sake, then we decided to share many small appetizers and mains. It is always a hard choice when the menu offers more than I can eat, but we decided to start with few and I chose these two the must have experience when dining in Nobu. The Bigeye and Bluefin Toro Tartar that was so smooth and so buttery that was melting in my mouth. The perfect consistency and freshness of the fish made this dish a must have experience. Yellowtail Sahimi with jalapeno just like the tartar melts in your mouth, and has a very refreshing feeling provided by the ponzu and jalapenos. We enjoyed other dishes like New Zeland Muscles, and perfectly golden fried popcorn shrimp, and juicy mushroom salad.
For the main we shared the not surprising signature Miso Cod and the speciality of Nobu that I fell in love since my first time visit - Lobster with wasabi pepper sauce. The lobster is pouched and sliced into small pieces, mixed with mushrooms, asparagus and greens, and sautee in wasabi pepper sauce. It is a divine dish, made to perfection.
Stimulate your senses with Coconut Jasmine Bombe - it is one of its kind dessert. It is light, delicious and triggers your taste buds. There is no guilt in eating it, but simple pleasure.
Some say that Nobu is old and overdone, but to me it is always a great experience to eat well and have a good time. It is not a scene as used to be, now it brings people who truly enjoy great food.
